It’s the season of horse races, I’ll be honest I do love a trip to the races. Why wouldn’t I, it gives me an excuse to wear a nice dress, get my hair done, paint my nails and even put on a pretty hair accessory. So far this year, I’ve been to the Grand National, which was pretty amazing, the atmosphere was something else and would definitely recommend it to anyone. I’m also attending Thirsk Races Ladies Day on September 5th. Therefore, I’m writing this post to give you some ideas on what to wear for the race season. These outfits would also be great for any weddings as well.
This trendy lace skater dress is from MandCo boutique collection. It’s so comfortable and easy to wear. I normally wear pinks and corals to the races as they are my favourite colours. However I thought I would go for something different this time around, and this blue will still make you stand out from the crowd. The lace is really pretty on this dress, it gives that feeling of luxury and classy. I like the detail on the neck line, with the key hole. This style of dress is lovely and floaty, which is what I like, tight fitting dresses aren't great for walking around the soft grounds and not comfortable to walk in either.
I've matched the blue with a light colour salmon pink hair fascinator to give the hair a lift and lets face it, for the races you need to wear either a fascinator or a hat to join in on the theme being glamorous. I love curly hair and the bigger the better, so what I've done is back comb the top section of my hair to give it some height, the fascinator is a headband (silver metal), so slotted into place easily with this style of hair so the band was easily hidden.
I've gone for silver accessories with the shoes, bracelet and earrings. I had my nails painted lilac, which I thought went nicely with the blue, and my ring.
The below pictures, is to give you more ideas on the type of skater dresses to wear, this is what I wore to the Grand National. The hair fascinator matched this dress perfectly.
Have you been to any races this year or planning to go?
