What's In My Make-up Bag

This post is to give you an insight into what's in my make-up bag, what products I use and why. Hopefully this will help those who are new to the world of make-up, seeking advice and recommendations. Also for any of my readers who ever wondered what I use when reading my blog often.
Before Applying Make-up

The first thing I do before putting make-up on is cleanse my skin, I tend to use Purete Thermale One Step Cleanser 3 in 1, I find that it's very gentle on the skin and not harsh like most other cleansers. Its perfect for removing eye make-up on an evening as well, without making your eyes water.

After cleansing, I like to apply Garnier Body Intensive 7 days ultra softening lotion shea butter moisturiser. Only a small amount does, and I rub all over my face and neck, make sure you fully rub into your skin. Your skin should then be left smooth and silky, then leave to a few minutes before applying make-up.

Applying Make-up

After preparing your skin, I use Estee Lauder Estée Lauder Illuminating Perfecting Primer. Primer helps to smooth your skin to even out and create a flawless finish. Also it helps keep your make-up together for longer without wearing off too quickly.

I recently discovered Younique and wow, what a brand, I think this is a new fav. Anyhow I started using their BB Cream, it’s a great colour and adapts to your skin tone. It give you that glowing look and feels light. Although, if I’m heading for a night on the town, I wear a slightly heavier foundation, Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place. Personal preference I guess, but will highly recommend both.

I use No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Trio, in a light brown, to create a natural look. I apply all three each time, going from the darkest shade up to the lightest one, to blend the colours together. Starting from the inside corner of the eye outwards.

Eye Liner

This can be tricky if you’ve never applied eye liner before, to be fair, I used to be terrible and had it all over my eyes when practising. However, you do get used to it, with more experience you’ll be a pro in no time. Currently I use Maybelline Gel Liner – eyestudio lasting drama in black. This is basically the gel liner pot and comes with a pot, it is thee best eye liner and I adore it. It comes off really easily as well, when you remove your make-up. Although, if you need practise I would recommend using Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner as its better for learners, but suggest you keep some cotton buds handy to straighten out the line.

I never know where to start when writing about a Mascara, to me it’s the most important thing to get right. Year to date, I started to wear Clinque high impact, which creates volume and opens up your eyes and one of the best mascaras I’ve come across in a while. That said, that’s until I discovered Younique through rep Kerry Goding, their Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara is amazing. Words truly can’t not describe how good it is. When it arrived it came in the most beautiful packaging. I was so excited to try it for myself, as I’ve seen a lot of reviews/comments on Facebook and just needed to try it.

Although, its not really like any other mascara, as you still put on a coat of mascara, in this case, my favourite Clinique high impact mascara is used, then I apply Younique transplanting gel, following by the fiber lash, the brush is a bit fluffy, as its fibres to extend your eye lashes. Then I reapply the gel to lock in the lashes. Honest it’s amazing, I’m struggling to see the benefits of buying fake eyelashes anymore due to this new product. Also I still get to use Clinque as a base coat, so a winner all round! Look how incredible the images of before and after!? Ps - excuse the close up pics! Forgot to mention as well that this is only one coat of lashes, the more you apply the longer the lashes.

I do probably have the longest curly eye brows, so I normal get them threaded and trimmed. Although, I love HD brows palette, with an eyebrow brush, a bit like eyeshadow to create an even line through my eye brows as I’m pretty fair, so use a light brown shade. Then I’ll use more brows, a bit like a gel, to straighten out the hairs.

I love my blushers, my favourite one is Estee Lauder Pure Colour blusher, I used a light pink colour to give a highlighting glow rather than make it really obvious. Also highlights your cheek bones.

Lipsticks is a big one to cover as there is so many shades, so I’m going to do a separate post on my collection and shades. Although I generally use either Rimmel London, Calvin Klein, MAC, Clinque or Avon. MAC and Clinque are more of my going out lipsticks as they are long lasting, when sipping those cocktails J! The rest are more work and during the day, which tend to be light browns and pinks.
